Papa New Guinea

It's Friday here on Oahu.  The day started with getting the boys up for school.  Jason left for a trip today at noon, so he was home and said he'd get the boys up and going, which was awesome.  I hosted our McGrew Fitness workout at 8:15.

I'm so grateful for our little workout group.  I took over for Jennifer Murch, back when she moved in June.  We've got equipment here in my garage and a group anywhere from 6-18 ladies and friends come to workout Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.  Today we based our workout on the WOD posted for Crossfit Games 2019.  It was tough!  19 Wall balls and 19 calorie row.  It was fun gathering five rowers for this morning.  We looked so legit!

We just got back from taking Jason to the airport.  He's off to Papa New Guinea, of all places!  He's traveled more than we expected with this new job.  He's been to Fiji and Singapore a few times.  I'm a little nervous about this trip.  It's only a week, but it's not the friendliest of destinations.

This evening Sully's got soccer at 5:00.  It's his first year and I'm coaching his little team.  It's been fun, but I kind of dread it all day.  I wish it weren't on Fridays.  I'm ready to be done with the regular routine by Friday evening.  Oh well....we only have four or five weeks left.

Beth, my sister, is going through a rough patch with her sleep anxiety.  I absolutely hate living so far away where I can't help her and take her kids when she has appointments or needs breaks.

Gotta go fold some laundry and make lunch for Sully and his playmate, Miles.  Life is good!

Earache and Valentines Day

I'm hoping to have less time in between posts, but I'll just keep trucking along and journal when I can/remember.

We had a great weekend!  It was Presidents Day on Monday, so Jason and the kids were home an extra day.  We surfed Saturday morning at Barbers Point and then went to Benny's basketball game at noon.  Jason and I were invited to a Valentines Dance that my friend, Sarah Homewood, from another ward put on.  It was so fun!  We weren't excited about going....neither of us are dancers.  Not many people were there, so we were glad we came to support them.  We laughed a lot at ourselves and just had a great time trying something new.

Sunday was our ward conference.  I'm primary president now and there have been a lot of changes to the schedule.  We only go for two hours now, so I feel like church flies by so quickly.  I'm doing the music, too.  We have a very small primary, we only had 12 there last week.  I really enjoy working with the kids, but I'm really tired when it's done.  Benny was being extra punky on Sunday.  Singing the songs loud and opera style.  That kid is a crack up and keeps me laughing.

The kids were back in school yesterday and I went surfing with my friend, Ali.  We surf every Tuesday morning and I look forward to it all week.  Yesterday was rainy, but we decided to venture to Haleiwa anyways.  It was glorious!  Rainy, but so fun!  The waves were bigger than we're used to, so I got churned like a washing machine a few times, but I feel like I'm learning.

Benny had basketball practice and Jason was working late, so we grabbed McDonalds on the way home and I paired it with some carrot sticks one of my neighbors had, luckily.  We are completely out of produce and I desperately need to get some groceries today.

It's 6:30 am now and I'm letting Benny sleep in.  Poor guy had a wicked earache last night.  Looks like I'm headed to the doctor later today.  I'm waiting for Graham to come downstairs for breakfast and hoping Sully sleeps a little longer.

I'm grateful for this mundane, sometimes crazy, but pretty ordinary life I have.  My family brings me joy, even with the tough lessons they are teaching me in patience.

Saturday, Saturday

I really want to keep going with the journaling, so even though there's not much going on, I want to document.  I want to remember what every day life was like while we were in the thick of parenting these four crazy kiddos.

A lot of our Saturdays have looked the same for the last few months.  Jason and I get up early to go surf.  We spend some time on Friday evening looking at the surf reports and then decide where we want to go.  Today looked a little different because Jason wanted to go to Pokai Bay and I was concerned that the waves would be too high for me.

Out of time...
