Gelato Man

The Gelato man made it to our street.  We saw glimpses of him when we first moved in at the end of the summer.  Well, he's back and he's soo hard to resist.  His timing is terrible, though!  Always right before dinner.  On this particular night, we gave in to their pleas (let's be real....I really wanted some) and we all took part in the gelato goodness.

As you can see, Graham was pretty psyched.

Sullivan got a cone to chew on and he downed it in less than 2 minutes.

Good stuff.

On the Move

This little man is seven months old already!  This past week he finally mastered the forward crawl.  He's been backing himself into corners and under couches for weeks.  Now, if we put something extra enticing in front of him, he'll put the work in and robot his way over.

Poor guy has been working hard on some teeth, too.  Check out the slobber on that shirt and dripping from his chin!  The two bottom came in pretty quick, but those top two gave him trouble.  Still smiling, though!

I love these two sweet shots of our guy.  He really has such a sweet disposition and smiles A LOT!

You can see the two trying to push through on top.

He can move pretty quick in the walker, too.  If only all of the rugs weren't in the way.  He jabbered at his reflection for a while as I made dinner one night.

We love our Sully-man!

Band Concert / Wax Museum Project

Lucy got the opportunity to try the flute this year.  They had their one and only concert last week.  It was so fun seeing her practice and try something new.  She wasn't a big fan of playing and practicing.  She seemed to always be out of breath and felt whoosy if she went on too long.  She opted out of continuing with it next year.  She's going to be in the choir instead.

She looks so grown up to me in this picture with her new braces.
Lucy has a cute group of friends here in Sigonella.  Some of them were in band, too.

Fuzzy action shot

Last week she also completed her Wax Museum Project.  I thought this was just something done here, but apparently, lots of people have done them in the states, too.  She researched a woman from the Revolutionary War period, Lydia Darragh.  She warned Washington's troops of a British plan to launch a surprise attack.  Apparently her role played an essential part in America's victory.
She had to dress up and memorize a short speech to share every time someone pushed the button on the table.   Her friend, Sammie, helped me find her when I got to the school.

It's hard to believe that this sweet girl will be in middle school next year.  Lucy is such a responsible, caring, and sensitive girl and I am proud to be her mom.  She makes me laugh daily and I love it when she gets in her goofy moods and lets herself be silly every once in a while.

Cardboard Dude

This assignment seemed a little above and beyond what I think should be asked of a preschooler's mother.  A cardboard cut out that is colored/dressed to look like your student.

The mustache was a bonus.......and requested by Benny.

Sullivan's intro to the world of food

Messy. Slow. Frustrating.

Hilarious....at least Sullivan thinks so.

J's B-day

APRIL 2014

My main squeeze had a birthday this month.  April 1st to be exact.  This poor guy was in the midst of studying for his big Professional Engineering Test when his day came around, so he wasn't in the mood to really celebrate, but he humored the rest of us.

We got a babysitter and went to have a quick dinner out in Motta.  We made it back in time to have brownies and ice cream with the kids before they had to got to bed (school night and all).

35 years young!  Rounding up to 40 now.....yeesh.

Just to prove this handsome man is still young at heart, he got a Ripstick for his birthday.  He was always playing with the ones the neighbor's have, so I got one of his very own.

Just I love this picture.  In this one shot, you see so many things about our lives right now.  Lucy....always posing and trying to be older than she really is.  She has greasy, swimmer hair because she was in the middle of swim clinics and doesn't like to shower at night.  Graham....the clown, always looking for a laugh.  Benny...the eternal cheeser in his Spider Man pajamas.  The ripstick....Jason still loves to "play".  The nearly empty bottle.....Sullivan was here, but now is in bed.  All in our tiny, cramped, full of fun, Italian kitchen.

He's finally done with his test.  We won't know the results for another 2 months, but at least for now, he and I can relax.  He studied from the middle of January to April 11th.  He stayed at work until 10 or 11 Monday-Thursday and then put in a few hours every Saturday.  We are sooo relieved it's over.

Happy Birthday to the best husband and Dad around.  I sure love that man of mine.  I'm so proud of him and I'm so grateful he's mine forever.
