We were lucky enough to be able to escape for a couple days to one of our favorite places. San Diego! More specifically, Coronado Island! Because we Jason is in the military, we are blessed to be able to stay at the hotel on Naval Base Coronado. All of the rooms open up to the beach! We've had a few wonderful trips to this place and this one was great, too.
We left right after church on Sunday and got to San Diego around 11:00 pm. We got the kids settled in and the next day we were all up and ready for a day outside (it was still WAY too hot to play outside in Phoenix, so this was exciting).
We spent a couple hours that morning playing soccer and frisbee in the grassy courtyard at the hotel. I remember thinking to myself about how blessed my life is and how grateful I am to be with my family in such a beautiful place. There was a lot of laughing! I wanted to remember how carefree we all felt that morning.
Lucy and Graham braving the cold waves.
Benny was taking a much needed nap during this time.
Graham wanted a picture that looked like he was sliding on the sand.
Later in the afternoon, the fog rolled in, but the kids didn't mind at all.
Benny's awake!
Love this picture of Ben and J. I've got one fine lookin' man!
On our way to find some dinner. We ended up eating at a little local pizza place. We've eaten there a few times. Good stuff!
Benny getting ready for bed. He thought he was going to be able to sleep on the top bunk. Nope. Yes, he's three and still has a binkie to sleep. Back off.
The kiddos wanted to start out in the same bed while Mom and Dad watched a movie in the other room. They were all tuckered out from a fun day playing, so they fell asleep pretty quick.
Sea World!! We spent the next day there taking in the sights. Again, because of our military status, we get in free once a year. Sweet! I didn't get many pictures, but we had a fabulous time. The kids were thrilled to find they had a lot of "rides" as well as the stuff we expected (Shamu, dolphins, etc.). It was a beautiful day and we fit a ton of fun into it.
There were a lot of tears when it was time to go (thank you, Graham), but we were still able to get a group shot before we left the park. I am so grateful for these couple days that we got to get away and just be together.
