Bike Ride with My Boys

I took the middles on a bike ride to Ford Island one Sunday afternoon last month.
It was a lot of fun chatting with them and showing them the different Pearl Harbor Memorials that are there.

Isn't this banyan tree incredible!  It's located right across the water from the Arizona Memorial.  Jason had his promotion ceremony near here the summer we first moved to the island.

McGrew Fitness

I thought it would be good to journal a little bit about the McGrew Fitness group I lead here in our neighborhood.  It's a big part of my life and I'm grateful for this group of ladies that have become my family here.

The group started a few years ago when my friend, Jenn Murch, organized us.  We all chipped in money and equipment to be able to workout together.  The group gets smaller and bigger as people move in and out of our hood.  She set the stage and got us going!

Well, then she moved.  So sad.  We all wanted to keep it going, so I took it on.  Now, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, a group of anywhere from 5-15 ladies come over for a workout.  We meet at 8:15 during the school year and 7:15 over the summer (to beat the heat)/.

When people ask what style of workout we do..I usually say it's a combination of Crossfit and Boot camp.  We lift, but don't do the more complicated lifts and we do more cardio than most crossfit workouts.
The kids are forced out of the garage and down to the park to play during the workouts.  Sometimes there's a pretty big group of them!
This is on our friend, Leah Baugh's, birthday.  These ladies really are my closest friends here in Hawaii.  I know I can call on them for help and support at anytime.  This is no small thing being away from family.  I feel so blessed to know them and to be a part of this.

March Miscellaneous

Our March has been busy and action-filled!
Graham got to participate on Alvah Scott Elementary's track team.  They competed against all the other elementary schools in the area.
His relay team took first and he placed in the long jump.
Lucy and Tristen went to prom!  Aren't they the cutest.
Love this beauty!
Graham and Benny got to go Ice Skating for an afternoon.  It's weird seeing them dressed up for cold weather!

Benjamin finished up a basketball season.  He had a great time and improved a lot!  It's always so fun to see him enjoying himself.  He is quick and did a great job stealing the ball by anticipating the other team's passes.
Lucy and Tristen competed in a talent competition downtown in Honolulu.  Lucy sang a song "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and Tristen played the guitar.  Such a talented couple!

Maui Trip

We escaped the crazy!  We celebrated Jason's 40th birthday and our 18th wedding anniversary with a trip to Maui!  Mom prolonged her trip and stayed with the kids so we could surf, eat out, and just be together.  It was glorious.

Monster Truck Rally!

I got tickets for Jason to the Monster Truck Rally for Christmas.  Ha!  He's a tough one to buy for and it sounded fun!  It was LOUD!

Grandma and Grandpa Visit

We were thrilled to have Grandma and Grandpa come for Spring Break this year!  We fit a lot in to the couple of weeks they were here.
Lucy went to prom!  I'm so glad that Mom was here to help with her hair!

We took them over to Hickam Harbor and walked around for a while.

We hiked Diamond Head.  It was our first time.  Grandpa made it to the top with the boys.

My favorite moments were the ones just hanging out at home.  Grandma helped Ben with one of his piano songs.
We boated out to the sand bar on Kaneohe Bay.  It was such a fun afternoon just visiting and spending time together.

Mongolian BBQ up at a restaurant on Camp Smith

Jason and Grandpa went golfing again on Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay.

Of course, we had more than a few beach days, too.  Love this picture of Mom and Dad!

Graham and Lucy went to do baptisms with Grandpa, too.

We always look forward to visitors, but Grandma and Grandpa our at the top of our list!  We love having a piece of "home" here with us for a while.

Seabee Ball 2019

We had such a fun night celebrating the Seabees this year at the annual Seabee Ball at the Hale Koa.  They do things a little differently here with the "Aloha attire".  It was fun to get the Haku lei to wear for the evening.  A bunch of the spouses decided to order them for the event.

Sure love this guy!  This crazy military life has been quite the adventure.  As long as I have him as my partner through it all...we'll get through it.

Hanging at the photo booth with our friends, Adam and Sarah Homewood.
